Sparkling Amazons:
Abstract Expressionist Women of the 9th St. Show
Opening October 6, 2019
Groundbreaking and innovative, the KMA's upcoming Sparkling Amazonsexhibition presents the often-overlooked contribution by women artists to Abstract Expressionism and the significant role they played during the 1940s and 50s.
Perle Fine (1905—1988)
During the 50 years of her prolific career, Fine's work encapsulated multiple modes of expression and abstraction. A creator of abstract paintings and collages, her later work is infused with a sense of serenity. She became a primary figure of the abstract expressionist era, with her work being exhibited in several solo and group shows and now in numerous museums and private collections.
