Now that schools in New York State are preparing to start this coming week it is important to remind everyone of the law regarding stopped or slowing school busses.. Students and Parents and Guardians will be out early in the morning and afternoon, waiting for their buses and crossing our roads.
Please keep your eyes on the road for the:
YELLOW WARNING LIGHTS on the school bus. The Yellow flashing lights alert motorists the bus is preparing to make a stop. Please SLOW DOWN and prepare to STOP for the RED FLASHING LIGHTS and an extended STOP sign signals motorists that the bus is STOPPED and children are getting on or off the bus.
It is illegal to pass a school bus that is stopped to load or unload students. Never attempt to pass a stopped school bus under any circumstances. Share this important information with your friends and family to help reduce the risk of red light offenders! You may save a child’s life!
