Thank you, Bob Saget, for making Ridgefield laugh: The Ridgefield Playhouse reflects

The world was shocked and saddened by the news that Bob Saget, the comedian and actor who stole the hearts of audiences as the dad Danny Tanner on the sitcom "Full House," passed away suddenly yesterday, Sunday, January 9, 2022.

Best known for his TV roles on “Full House” and “America's Funniest Home Videos,” he was also a Grammy-nominated standup comedian for over thirty years and performed multiple times at The Ridgefield Playhouse.

Ridgefield Playhouse Executive Director Allison Stockel remarked, “Bob performed multiple times at The Ridgefield Playhouse - he was almost like a regular here. We are all so sad about this news. He was way too young."

In an article published by Westchester Magazine ahead of his Playhouse performance in June of 2016 Saget said, “[The] Ridgefield Playhouse really has good comedians. A lot of my favorite peers have played there. I actually played it about seven years ago, and I am very much looking forward to coming back.”

Jared Shahid, Ridgefield Playhouse Artistic Director told HamletHub that he was in discussions with Saget to schedule a return to the Playhouse. “We had been in discussions with his agent to bring him back, but of course, Covid derailed those plans. Our staff really liked him and always enjoyed his visits.”

The photo you see here is Saget posing for a selfie backstage at The Ridgefield Playhouse with Allison Stockel’s daughter Sami and a few of her friends. “He was funny, extremely affable. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family.”
