ENERGIZE NY Celebrates 500 Energy Efficient Homes Completed in Northern Westchester!

The Energy Improvement Corporation (EIC), a New York State non-profit Local Development Corporation (LDC), celebrated the passage of an important milestone with a wonderful group of Westchester homeowners, local community leaders and energy efficiency contractors on Tuesday August 19th in Louis Engle Park on the beautiful Ossining waterfront.

The event marked the completion of the 500th "Energized Home" in the 14 municipalities of the Northern Westchester Energy Action Consortium (NWEAC) since the Energize Bedford pilot launched in the fall of 2010. Since the milestone was passed in May an additional 77 homes have completed a Home Performance with ENERGY STAR upgrade. The current total of 557 upgraded homes translate into over $7M in economic activity, 86 jobs, over $1M in energy savings and annual GHG reductions that are the equivalent of permanently removing 226 cars from the roads.

The gathering celebrated these achievements and honored our volunteers, local leaders, homeowners and contractors! The party and awards ceremony recognized their efforts and the energy that made this milestone a reality.
