September 11th - The Triumph of Christianity: How a Forbidden Religion Swept the World by Bart Ehrman

How did a religion whose first believers were twenty or so illiterate day laborers in a remote part of the empire become the official religion of Rome, converting some thirty million people in just four centuries?

October 9th - The Great Partition: The Making of India and Pakistan by Yasmin Khan

One of the first events of decolonization in the twentieth century, the great partition of 1947, was also one of the most bloody. Khan uncovers the recklessness of the partition plan, its catastrophic human toll, and the unshakable animosity left in its wake.

November 13th - The Worst Hard Time: The Untold Story of Those Who Survived the Great American Dust Bowl by Timothy Egan

Timothy Egan follows a half-dozen families and their communities through the rise and fall of the region, going from sod homes to new framed homes to huddling in basements with the windows sealed by damp sheets in a futile effort to keep the dust out.
