FREE ADMISSION
Compassion Without Borders, a grass roots group, is sponsoring a community event to inform the public of the recent migrant immigration crisis. The purpose of the event is to separate fact from fiction and to provide participants with the means to offer support, particularly to those children that are still being detained. The event will take place at Asbury Methodist Church, located at 17 Old Post Road South in Croton on the Hudson on Sunday, October 14th from 2pm-5pm. Speakers will provide information on childhood trauma associated with being separated from a parent. Insight will be provided on how the legal system works in regard to immigration and citizenship issues. A first-hand account on what is taking place at the border in Texas will also be presented. In addition, ways to support and help the recent immigrants will be provided. A round-table discussion with a question and answer session in addition to exhibits with resources and representatives to encourage letter writing and voter registration will be a main feature of this event. Please see the attached flyer for additional details. All welcome to attend. This is a FREE event. Light refreshments will be served.
