There are 1,019 acres that are now protected in Somers!

Windsor Farm, Angle Fly Preserve, Rhinoceros Creek and Stuart's Farm have all been protected by the Somers Land Trust in conjunction with the Westchester Land Trust.
 
President Michael Barnhart welcomed the attendees to the Annual Meeting and described the highlights of the year.  
Board Member Jan Antonucci delivered the financial report which was written by treasurer Lauretta Jones.  Jan thanked their many generous contributors which included donations from as far away as Florida, where 94 year old Ruth Woolfe sent a contribution!
 
Vice President and Project Manager Bob MacGregor described the building of the Pavilion at Rhinoceros Creek Reservation, a new nature education center.  Future construction plans include:  grading around the pavilion next month; the construction of a bluestone patio overlooking the pond; placement of huge boulders for natural seating and protection of the pavilion; landscaping with native plants, new signage and the development and construction of a walking trail that will loop about 3/4 mile.
 
Volunteer Ron Miller received a Certificate of Appreciation as well as artifacts from the Reynolds House which were designed and assembled by Board member Lauretta Jones in appreciation for his help building the Pavilion at Rhinoceros Creek.  Other Pavilion volunteers in attendance at the meeting included John Engel and John Jr, Carl Gebauer, Tom Newman, Rick Morrissey and Lorin Woolfe.  
 
Rosey VanWart spoke about 30 scouting projects that have been completed over the years at AFP.  In 2018, Jack Hanna, Matthew Reimann, Liam MacDonald and Christian Faller's Eagle Scout projects were accomplished.

Bob Mendoza reported on Wildlife Management.  This is the 9th year of the program, which has had a stellar safety record.  This year, 6 deer were taken- 2 bucks and 4 does.  Over 9 years, 108 deer have been hunted.
