IMPORTANT NEWS! A new online Library System is coming next week.

As you may have heard, the Westchester Library System is migrating to a new computer system. For the Somers Library this means new and better ways to provide services for you, but requires intensive staff training. We thank you for your understanding during this change.

But what does this mean for you?

From March 11th until March 13th the system will be taken offline to allow for the final steps of the migration. No checkout, searches, holds, or other activity will work during this time. Our digital collections will be affected, as well as our physical collection. If you wish to use overdrive, our largest electronic book and audio book collection, you must have your card up to date before March 11th and have created an account in Overdrive.

The Somers Library will be closed to the public during this time, and we will use the time to continue training and to do needed work on the building. We are looking forward to this important and needed change, and are excited to share this with you

If you had enabled your checkout history on your account, please be aware that the history WILL NOT be transferred to the new computer system. You will need to copy and paste this information from the current online catalog to your computer. For help backing up your history please call the Library before the migration. We will not be able to recover the history after migration.

You may have noticed that there are fewer new books available in the system. We have had to stop adding new books at the beginning of February, but will be able to start adding them to our collection when we go live on March 14th.

Your online Library Catalog will be very different, but much more powerful. Searching for items will be easier with the option for you to add titles to a checkout cart, put holds on multiple items at once, see all the different formats of an item on the same screen, and much, much more.
