The New Stop and Shop in Mahopac Celebrates Pi Day 3.14!

Happy Pi Day 3.14! ... Pi (the Greek letter) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. And what better way to celebrate than with piece of PIE! The New Stop and Shop in Mahopac has a special today only to celebrate. Only $3.14 for apple, dutch apple and pumpkin pies.

Assistant Manager, Amy went live with us on Facebook to explain this fun event. Click here to see the video.

According to PiDay.Org, Pi has been calculated to over one trillion digits beyond its decimal point. As an irrational and transcendental number, it will continue infinitely without repetition or pattern. While only a handful of digits are needed for typical calculations, Pi’s infinite nature makes it a fun challenge to memorize, and to computationally calculate more and more digits.

It is one of Math teachers' favorite days and students celebrate by having Pi Day parties. March 14 also happens to be Albert Einstein's birthday, so it is the perfect day for math challenges and math fun!
