High School Student Will Be Interviewing Local Residents

SHARE YOUR FONDEST MEMORIES OF THE JEFFERSON VALLEY MALL

High School Student Will Be Interviewing Local Residents Asking Them for Their Favorite Jefferson Valley Mall Memories.

Lulu Stvan, a rising junior and honors student from Staples High School in Westport, CT, will be at the Jefferson Valley Mall on Wednesday, August 14th and on Friday, August 23rd from 12:00 noon to 3:00 pm asking local residents to share with her their favorite memories of the Jefferson Valley Mall.

The mall has been a staple in the community since 1983 and has been important in the northern Westchester area for many years. It’s been a place where the community comes together and life happens. For some, it’s been where they’ve had their first job, for others, their first date. It’s been a place where friends meet after school, seniors walk together, mommy (and daddy) and me classes happen, etc.

Come by the mall on these two days to share with Lulu what makes this place special for you. Your shared memories will become part of an exhibit that will tell the story of the mall, its roots in the community, and the amazing transformation the mall is undergoing to become a hub for residents and activities.

Lulu’s project will document these memories culminating in an exhibition at the mall that will showcase what the public has shared with her. Part of the exhibition will include a fundraising element that will raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer’s Foundation as a way of giving back.

As Heather Novak, the Marketing Director of the Jefferson Valley Mall, who grew up in Yorktown says, “We want to share these stories about our neighborhood with our neighbors.”
