"Affordable Care Act" insurance affordability subsidies
On Monday Evening, Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18) helped pass the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Enhancement Act, a bill that will expand health coverage for Hudson Valley families by lowering the cost of insurance and prescription drugs. The vote comes days after the Trump Administration filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to strike down the entirety of the Affordable Care Act.
“It’s bad enough that the Trump Administration tried to dismantle our nation’s health care system before COVID-19, but to continue to do so in the middle of a pandemic is plain wrong,” said Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney. “Right now, I’m in Washington working hard to do the opposite. I’m voting to build on the progress of the ACA and make sure folks in the Hudson Valley have access to good, affordable care. Americans deserve peace of mind. They deserve to know they’ll be covered - during and after this pandemic.”
Late last week — during a global pandemic — the Trump Administration filed its brief asking the Supreme Court to strike down the entirety of the Affordable Care Act, landmark legislation that provides health care coverage to 23 million Americans and created unprecedented patient protections. If the Trump Administration is successful, nearly 54 million Americans living with a pre-existing condition could lose coverage.
