County Welcomes Patricia Keegan, former District Director to Nita Lowey to the staff at Department of Social Services

Patricia Keegan has joined the Westchester County Department of Social Services (DSS) as Assistant to Commissioner Leonard Townes, and will work on internal and external communications.

Keegan served for more than 26 years as District Director to Congresswoman Nita Lowey, supervising constituent services and community outreach in her two offices in Westchester and Rockland, until the Congresswoman retired in January. Prior to that, she was Director of Communications for the New York State Education Department, and also previously worked as a reporter and editor for the then Gannett Westchester Newspapers.

Keegan said: “I am delighted to join the staff of Westchester County Government led by County Executive George Latimer.  I look forward to working with Department of Social Services Commissioner Leonard Townes and his team to increase public awareness about, and access to the broad array of DSS programs and services offered throughout the County.”

Westchester County Executive George Latimer said: “We are thrilled to have Patricia Keegan joining our team in Westchester County at the Department of Social Services. Pat brings a wealth of knowledge about Westchester and our constituents after devoting many years of service in the office of Congresswoman Nita Lowey. As a long-time Westchester resident, I look forward to her effective communication with our residents about the many programs and services that are offered by the County.”

Keegan, a long-time Westchester County resident, holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of New Rochelle and a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
