Update on multi-vehicle crash with injuries on eastbound Interstate 84

UPDATE:

December 18, 2018, the New York State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle crash with injuries on eastbound Interstate 84 in the town of Kent in the area of mile marker 60 just east of exit 17 (Ludingtonville Road).

At approximately 5:44 p.m., Troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on Interstate 84 of a 2005 Nissan sedan for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.  As Troopers began exiting the marked patrol vehicle with all emergency lights activated, a 2006 Mercedes-Benz C280 side swiped the front of the patrol vehicle, and then collided with the 2005 Nissan. 
 
The Mercedes-Benz rolled over, and came to rest in the center of Interstate 84.  The operator and sole occupant, Aleksandr J. Venticinque, age 24, of Danbury CT, was removed from the vehicle and found to be uninjured.
 
The Nissan after being rear ended was pushed off the roadway, all three occupants were injured, and were extricated by Lake Carmel Fire Department.  The operator, Luis Juanacido, age 64, and front seat passenger Edwin J. Villavicencio, age 38, both of Danbury, suffered minor injuries, and were transported to Danbury Hospital.  Rear seat passenger Diago Yomeseba, age 30, of Danbury, sustained serious injuries, and was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center.  His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Interstate 84 eastbound, east of exit 17, was closed for an extended period of time and re-opened at 9:30pm.
