EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & FIRE SAFETY PRESENTATION

The Town of Somers, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will host an important presentation on January 19th at 10am. It will take place in the Heritage Room at the Activities Center of Heritage Hills. The event is open to all residents of the Town of Somers.
The program is in partnership with New York State, with the Red Cross providing emergency preparedness training entitled: Prepare, Respond, Recover: What to do When Disaster Strikes. It gives a comprehensive overview on how to prepare for natural and man-made disasters and how to respond to and recover from them. The training also provides information on types of common disasters, ways to prepare as an individual, family and community member, what to do when disaster strikes and what actions you can take afterward to aid in your recovery.
"Sound the Alarm" Campaign. This is a Red Cross program to install smoke alarms free of charge in residential settings. This program has successfully been in place in Heritage Hills since early 2018. The Red Cross has installed in participating homes a new ionization smoke alarm(s) with a 10-year battery if their team finds either faulty or insufficient working smoke alarms on an arranged visit.
The presentation is free of charge to all. If you have a question, contact Jack Mattes at mattesjack@yahoo.com.
