Westchester County has its own Digital Crime Lab?

Each month, the “Did You Know” video segment of the My Westchester newsletter explores a different topic that is unique, and little known about Westchester County. This month, we took a behind-the-scenes tour at the Digital Crime Lab at the Westchester County Department of Public Safety.

Watch the Video Segment on the Digital Crime Lab

The Westchester County Digital Crime Lab provides expert analysis and testimony in the forensic disciplines of ballistics, crime scene, digital evidence and latent prints. The Department is responsible for assisting local police departments in answering the who, what, where, when and why for a particular crime. The Westchester County Police Department is also one of only a handful of departments across the country who now have access to a Vacuum Metal Deposit machine, which lifts latent prints from a broad range of materials that previously yielded little to no useable fingerprint evidence.

If you have something you are curious about, or something you think no one knows, send us an email at Communications@WestchesterGov.com. Your idea might just appear in a future edition of “Did You Know.”
