On March 27, 2022, the New York State Police began investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash in the town of Yorktown.
At approximately 12:20 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to the Taconic State Parkway for a report of a vehicle off the roadway with Yorktown Fire Department and Empress EMS already on scene. Initial investigation determined Kurt P. Perez, age 50, of New Rochelle, in a 2018 Ford Explorer, was driving southbound in wet conditions and left the roadway from the west shoulder. Perez struck a tree and was pronounced deceased on scene.
This investigation remains ongoing.
