Westport Farmers’ Market Announces Get Growing to Go! Craft Kits for Kids Beginning August 13

Although the coronavirus pandemic has prevented live gatherings for the Get Growing kids’ program at Westport Farmers’ Market (WFM), the WFM is undeterred. Recently it launched Get Growing to Go!, a craft kit of fun activities that kids can do at home. The brainchild of Mae Farrell, Get Growing to Go! features a free package parents and caregivers pick up at the market and bring home to kids eager for stimulation! Each week Mae will announce the craft for the following week on Instagram and Facebook and will guide them through the week’s activity on their own schedule.

Get Growing is a program dear to my heart,” said Lori Cochran-Dougall, executive director of WFM. “Mae has taken it to a whole new level both in person and now virtually with the Get Growing to Go! craft kits. Families are a big part of our market and we are not going to let the pandemic prevent us from helping the next generation appreciate nature, farmers, and importance of a local food community.”

The program begins August 13 with a terrarium-making kit. Parents can pre-order craft kits for pick up at WFM between Sunday and Tuesday by emailing Mae at
