Creativity Connects Norwalk: Meet Mark Keys

Creativity Connects Norwalk

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Norwalk?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Norwalk.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Norwalk resident, author, and local photog, Mark Keys.

How does creativity connect you to Norwalk?

After living internationally, I’ve discovered that one of the amazing attributes of Norwalk is its vibrant multiculturalism and history. The restaurants and cultural events, architecture and most important the residents are for me, its greatest attributes.

What’s more, Norwalk is one of the best towns in Connecticut for people with eclectic pallets. Some of my favorite [restaurants] include El Segundo in Sono for it’s Hawker style street food, Pontos Greek for their lamb chops and Mediterranean dips, and Romanacci for its pizza (they import the flour for the dough directly from a small town in Italy). In addition, Good Hope Dumpling and Ramen is a small 10 seat restaurant family owned and operated that offers the best Ramen noodles and homemade Shiu Mai pork dumplings outside of Singapore!

Any place in town where you go for inspiration and creativity?

I discover creativity walking through the parks, Calf Pasture Beach, and Norwalk Cove Marina. I enjoy art galleries and visiting both Silvermine and Rowayton Art Center. One of my favorite things to do is to wake at sunrise and find a new part of town to explore. I take photographs and I’m filled with inspiration for my writing!

Finish this sentence: When I think of creativity in town I think of …

I love the vibrant galleries and street art! I really enjoy visiting Calf Pasture Beach, Norwalk Cove Marina, Sono, and Cranbury Park. The amazing thing about Norwalk is there are always new areas to explore and once you do a deeper dive on the history, past residences, Local characters and architecture, it really lends itself to being inspired from a photographic and literary perspective.
