Home is where the heart is - and where 88 percent of all heart attacks occur. Are you prepared to save the life of your sweetheart if necessary?
This Valentine's Day (Wednesday, February 14) from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., the Norwalk Fire Department and Norwalk Hospital EMS will provide free Hands Only CPR training. In less than 15 minutes, residents can learn the basic skills needed to save the life of a loved one or friend. No advance registration is needed, just stop by City Hall and follow the signs. Training can be completed in about 15 minutes and is free of charge.
The American Heart Association (AHA) conducted research showing that only 8 percent of people who suffer a cardiac emergency outside of a hospital or clinical setting will survive, By administering CPR immediately when someone's heart stops beating, you can double or even triple the chance of survival. If you are called on to provide CPR in an emergency situation, it will probably involve someone in your home, such as a spouse, child, parent or friend.
