New Principal hired at LMES

Region 15 Superintendent of Schools Regina Lemerich Botsford appointed Christopher R. Wermuth as Principal of Long Meadow Elementary School (LMES), effective July 1, 2015.  His hire is the result of an extensive search process that garnered 51 applications.

“Christopher Wermuth is a professional educator and leader who is dedicated to working with students, families, and staff,” said Botsford. “He has a wealth of knowledge and experience at the elementary school level and is a trust builder with a strong commitment to finding and developing the strengths in all children.”

Since 2011, Wermuth has been the Assistant Principal at Long Lots Elementary School in Westport, Connecticut. During his four-year tenure there, he supervised and evaluated staff, and built a school community through town hall meetings and community communication. He also ran and supervised a variety of educational programs and led a number of district committees.

Prior to leading Long Lots Elementary School, he taught fourth grade for 11 years at Redding Elementary School. He has been an active member of the Tri-State Consortium, a learning organization designed to enhance student performance in high-performing districts.
