A Conversation with Lois Barber, Writer for Country Life at Southbury Public Library

Saturday, December 12th from 2-3pm in the Kingsley Meeting Room

Please come and join Country Life Columnist, Lois Barber, for a conversation on a variety of topics from her beloved weekly column. Topics range from sharing recipes, places of interest, gardening and plant lore.Lois Barber grew up in NYC, but now lives in an antique farmhouse from the 1700's in rural Connecticut.  After graduating from NYU film school, Barber had hoped to become a screenwriter. However, one marriage and three children later, Barber hadn't so much as dotted an "i" for years after graduating, but found creative fulfillment fixing up an old house, cooking, and planting gardens. When a Forbes newspaper editor asked two reporters if they knew someone who could write a gardening column for them, both writers suggested "Lois Barber", and thus began her career as a gardening columnist while living in New Jersey. Barber moved to Connecticut, and has been writing Lifestyle columns (cooking, gardening, and now crafts) for the past fourteen years for the Country Life Section of The Waterbury Republican Newspaper.

Those attending are invited to bring a dish of their favorite food, or a cookie plate, along with their family recipe if they would like to be featured in Barber's weekly cooking column in Country Life.

Registration is required. Please call the library at 203-262-0626 ext. 130
