Carolyn Bucha exhibit at the Southbury Public Library

The Gloria Cachion Gallery at Southbury Public Library will host an exhibit of watercolors by Carolyn Bucha from Friday, April 1 until Wednesday, April 27, 2016. The library is located at 100 Poverty Rd., Southbury, CT 203-262-0626.

Carolyn Bucha is an award-winning watercolor artist who specializes in book and greeting card illustration. Born in England, her artistic style was influenced by the years she spent living in the Middle East and Paris. Bucha is interested in the interplay of color and design, especially in pottery, flowers, architecture and gardens.

She has painted for H. George Caspari cards for the last 27 years and for Hallmark Cards in Kansas City. In addition, she has freelanced for various publishers, including Readers Digest, Friedman/Fairfax Publishing and Storey Publications. You can find her work in Country Tea Parties, Tea With Friends, Garden Design with Foliage, Treasury of American Quits, Please Come to Dinner, and various other books. Carolyn’s work may be seen on tins, trays, floor coverings, and other home products, as well as a successful line of prints.

It is interesting to note that Carolyn did not study art in college, but began after graduate school. She learned by doing: how to paint and how to navigate the commercial side.

Her work is in many private collections, including that of Carl Icahn and President and Mrs. George H. W. Bush. She has had well-received shows in Westchester County and Kansas City.
