Have you ever wondered about Connecticut’s mysterious volcanic past? Join Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition and Flanders Nature Center and Land Trust on one of two scheduled tours of O&G’s Southbury trap rock quarry (Saturday, May 3 from 10AM-12PM and 1:30PM-3:30PM) highlighting some fascinating geological facts and views of ancient volcanic rocks and minerals. A fun and informative slide lecture will be followed by a guided tour of the quarry to identify volcanic rocks and minerals. Registration is required at pomperaug.org/events.
