American Red Cross Opens Multi-Agency Resource Centers for Flood-Affected Residents

In response to the recent severe flooding in Connecticut, the American Red Cross will open two Multi-Agency Resource Centers to assist residents impacted by the disaster. These centers will offer vital resources and support from Red Cross caseworkers and partner organizations such as United Way of Greater Waterbury, TEAM Inc., and others.

The first center will be open on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Southbury Senior Center, located at 561 Main Street, Southbury, CT. The second center will follow on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Naugatuck YMCA, 284 Church Street, Naugatuck, CT. Walk-ins are welcome, and no appointment is necessary.

For those unable to visit in person, the Red Cross encourages residents to schedule an appointment by calling 1-877-287-3327, a number available 24 hours a day.

Since the flooding began on August 18, the Red Cross has been actively supporting affected communities. Volunteers have provided nearly 3,700 meals and snacks and distributed emergency relief items, including clean-up kits, to over 600 families. These efforts have assisted more than 450 households, thanks to the dedication of over 70 trained Red Cross disaster workers.

The American Red Cross remains committed to bringing comfort and relief to those in need during this challenging time.
