Acts 4 Ministry Seeking Online-Only Donations During April 21-22 "Give Local" Fundraising Campaign

On Tuesday, April 21 and Wednesday, April 22, Acts 4 Ministry will seek donations during the Connecticut Community Foundation’s annual “Give Local Greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills” 36-hour online community giving challenge created to help 21 local area non-profit organizations raise needed funds and awareness of their organization’s ambitions.

“Every dollar donated to Acts 4 during the two-days-only campaign will be enhanced with bonus funds donated to our non-profit organization by the Connecticut Community Foundation (CCF) and their sponsors. The more private donations Acts 4 Ministry receives, the more our organization will be eligible to win bonus cash prizes,” stated Sarah Elizabeth Carabetta, executive director of Acts 4 Ministry, Inc.

The “Give Local” campaign will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday the 21st and will end at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22nd.

Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. is a charitable organization that assists individuals and families who have suddenly lost their homes to a fire, flood or other unexpected devastation or upsetting life event. These individuals and families are invited to visit Acts 4 Ministry’s 1713 Thomaston Avenue boutique shop to personally select, at no charge, clothing, dishes, glassware, furnishings, and items to meet other basic needs. The organization is dedicated to building relationships with people while providing them with the basics of daily living needs.

“Our volunteer board of directors, staff members and dozens of volunteers actively partner Acts 4 Ministry with churches, social service agencies, and public schools to help identify and serve people with these needs regardless of their faith, race, creed, or national origin, or their willingness to participate in religious activities,” explained Carabetta. Each year the organization distributes over 40,000 articles of clothing plus over 6,000 pieces of furniture to over 150 homes within Greater Waterbury. People of varying income levels are served, appointments are necessary.

A Back-to-School Program to obtain gently-worn and new school uniforms and a Sleep Well Campaign to obtain beds, bed clothing and mattresses are two of several annual Acts 4 Ministry’s ongoing programs to distribute resources to individuals and families throughout the area. Photographed in January of this year was a family in Waterbury who received six donated beds for their nine children as part of Acts 4 Ministry's Sleep Well campaign.

“Additionally, when they come to our boutique store, they are provided with an atmosphere that preserves their dignity and allows them to walk around to select what they personally need vs. being handed clothing or furnishings they do not desire. This is a respectful environment where everyone is treated with caring support,” stated Carabetta.

During the 2020 “Give Local” campaign, Acts 4 Ministry will seek monetary donations to support their ongoing efforts to provide personal bed sets to residents in need along with their overall furniture donations program.
