Reading Rocks this Summer at the Library

Registration for the Summer Reading Program at the Southbury Public Library will begin on Saturday, June 13th at 9:30. Registration must be done in person. This year’s theme will be “Reading Rocks at the Southbury Library!”

The Reading Program is open to children of all ages. For preschoolers and kids going into kindergarten, simply stop by the Children’s Circulation Desk, fill out a registration form and receive a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading log. Children will receive stickers for each book they read or is read to them, and will be given a small prize each time they visit the library.

Independent readers are also encouraged to participate in a special reading incentive program. For each hour of reading, our participants will be given a reading ticket and allowed to take a chance on a variety of great prizes including Boston Red Sox Major League Baseball Tickets, a family four pack to Mystic Aquarium, an American Doll and clothes, gift certificates to area restaurants and a host of other prizes donated by the Friends of the Southbury Library, local businesses and individuals.

If you have any questions, please call the Children’s Department at (203) 262-0626 ext. 3 or email the Children’s Librarian at jstokes@biblio.org.
