Northwest Connecticut has embraced a heritage lifestyle in recent years, with residents and guests savoring everything from locally raised organic meats and vegetables to artisan breads, pastries, chocolates, ice cream and more.
One of the newest and best arrivals on the scene is Litchfield Distillery, the micro-distillery located on Route 202, whose Batchers’ series includes five handcrafted, premium spirits: Bourbon Whiskey, Double Barreled Bourbon Whiskey, Bourbon Whiskey Port Cask Finish, Vodka and Gin.
Jack and David Baker, the principals behind the Crystal Rock water company, are blessed with “a taste for good drink, and the good luck to live in this gorgeous corner of the country called Connecticut.”
Launching Litchfield Distillery was a natural for them, as was hiring head distiller James McCoy, who has a Master’s degree in distilling and brewing from Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.
The Bakers are part of the extended Good News Café family, so it was also a natural for the restaurant to feature Litchfield Distillery’s premium spirits at the bar and in cocktails.
Good News Café is celebrating the relationship Aug. 18 by featuring a special menu of craft cocktails designed by Litchfield Distillery and Slocum & Sons, and made with Litchfield Distillery spirits. The drinks can be paired with recommended favorite dishes from the dinner menu.
Here’s a sneak peek at some of the cocktails on the menu for one night only.
- Lavender Bee Knees features Batchers’ Gin, lavender-infused honey syrup and fresh lemon juice.
