Ira Barkoff and The Connecticut Ten art opening at Carole Peck’s Good News Cafe on Sunday

Ira Barkoff and “The Connecticut Ten” will exhibit their show entitled A Passion to Paint from December 7th 2016 through February 7th, 2017 at Carole Peck’s Good News Restaurant & Bar, 694 Main Street South, Woodbury.

Carole Peck’s Good News Restaurant & Bar will welcome these eleven talented and award winning artists with an opening reception from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 7. The public is invited to meet the artists, view their exhibition, and learn more about their work while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and wine.

A Passion to Paint, is an exhibition of eleven talented and award winning Connecticut artists, inspired by their natural surroundings interpreting their vision of the landscape, sea, and sky into abstract and figurative form paintings

Their mentor and guide, Ira Barkoff, began his studies, as a young man, at the Art Students League and The Pratt Institute both located in the State of New York. The women previously worked in various careers fields including dance, landscape design, and television and each later achieving their degree in fine art and design. It was chance that made Dorothy Calio, Joanne Conant, Anne Marie Foran, Charlotte Honda, Kathy L’Hommedieu, Kathleen Mooney, Anne Quackenbos, Roberta Shea, Karen Simmons, and Wendy Walker meet, in a class taught by Ira Barkoff, at the Washington Art Association in Washington Depot, CT.

Several years later, the ‘Connecticut Ten’ have exhibited their work at the Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, CT and previously at the Good News Restaurant & Bar in 2013. Each artists, independently exhibit their art throughout New England, some in museums and all have pieces that can be found in many private collections across the country.
