Southbury Garden Club Presents Weird and Wonderful Gardens of the World on March 1

The Southbury Garden Club will present a program “Weird and Wonderful Gardens of the World”, by Dr. Richard Benfield on Friday, March 1st from 1 to 2pm at the Southbury Public Library (100 Poverty Road).

Dr. Benfield is a Professor of Geography at Central Connecticut State University. He has a varied background in teaching, tourism and as an author. His current research interests are in biogeography, particularly garden tourism, and the use of tourism as a conservation tool through the great botanic gardens of the world. He teaches many of the courses on the CCSU Geography Department’s tourism track. His research has taken him to over 115 countries where he has visited botanical gardens, and public and private gardens. His travels included visits to parks and gardens in South Africa; the Middle East; India; China and the Valley of the Flowers.

The hour-long program will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interested local residents are invited to attend. The program is free and open to the public.
