Southbury Conservation Commission Hosts Invasive Aquatic Plant Workshop

The Southbury Conservation Commission is hosting an Invasive Aquatic Plant Workshop on August 27, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Southbury Town Hall room 205. Gregory Bugbee, Principal Investigator, of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station will be the lecturer.

At this workshop, you will learn about the State's invasive aquatic plants and the techniques needed to identify, prevent, and manage the problem. Live specimens of invasive plants will be on display to help with identification skills.

This workshop will benefit homeowners with ponds or lakes, lake authorities that are looking to educate their members, and other conservation groups looking to educate themselves. Implementing a plan for control and what these invasive plants can do to our ponds and lakes are an important part of a balanced ecosystem.
