Tickets Available for Tomorrow Night's Acts 4 Ministry Concert Fundraiser

Tomorrow, December 12, beginning at 7:00 p.m., the non-denominational non-profit Acts 4 Ministry, Inc. will host a fundraiser, “An Intimate Evening With The Kennedys” featuring the acclaimed classic folk, rock, and pop duo, The Kennedys. The duo tours across the U.S. and the United Kingdom and the fundraiser will accommodate 55 to 60 attendees at the Acts 4 Ministry’s retail store and offices at 1713 Thomaston Avenue in Waterbury.

“This intimate fundraiser evening,” explained Acts 4 Ministry Executive Director Sarah Elizabeth Carabetta, “is one of the numerous ways our organization impacts positive changes in the Greater Waterbury community. We raise funds to meet our mission is to support the daily needs of families and individuals who are in dire financial distress because they have lost virtually everything they possess to a fire, flood, or other devastating life events.”

The husband and wife duo of Maura and Pete Kennedy are enjoying a career that spans more than 20 years. The New York City-based guitarists and vocalists have traversed a broad musical landscape, surveying power pop, acoustic songwriting, organic rock rooted in their early days in Austin, Texas. Their career began when they joined the Nanci Griffith’s Blue Moon Orchestra for a few years before setting out on their own.

The duo’s musical influences are rooted in Buddy Holly, The Everly Brothers, The Byrds, and The Beatles, and to date, the married couple has released numerous CDs including their “safe until tomorrow’ which was released in May of 2018.

Early in their career, the duo’s Byrds-inspired jangle drew the attention of McGuinn, Steve Earle, and most notably Nanci Griffith. They co-produced Nanci Griffith’s latest CD and toured extensively across the U.S. and the British Isles with the Texas songstress. Alan Harrison of Made in Newcastle commented that "The Kennedys offer a nice line of country-folk with a quaintly English edge to it. Their songs like ‘When I go’ and ‘The Midnight Ghost’ won them plenty of new fans, as we witnessed by the long queue buying up the CDs at the intermission.”

Acts 4 Ministry is a collaborative group of a volunteer board of directors, staff members and dozens of volunteers who desire to share God’s love by meeting the comforting physical needs of others. “We plan for this goal daily,” explained Acts 4 Ministry Board Member Bruce Martin, “by working with the community to collect and redistribute resources to people in need. This fundraiser is one of many ways we keep our program exciting to support.”

In place of purchasing tickets for the December 12th fundraiser, Acts 4 Ministry is requesting a monetary donation be made directly to the non-profit organization by individuals interested in attending the musical evening. Donations can be made by going to “Click to Give” at the top right corner of www.Acts4.org home page, and then clicking the Events page.
