Aldrich Undercover: A "Secret" Art Sale Returns May 6

The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is pleased to announce the return of its signature biennial “secret” art sale, Aldrich Undercover.

For 2021, Aldrich Undercover has been re-envisioned as a virtual event featuring live musical performances and an online art sale. Over 100 alumni artists will contribute 9 x 12-inch original works of art in any media of their choosing for sale to benefit the Museum. All works are priced at $350 and sold anonymously, the artists’ identities only revealed after purchase. Guests are encouraged to trust their instincts, follow their hearts, and make selections based on how the works move them.

Aldrich Undercover will take place online May 6 to 9, 2021. Tickets are required to access the sale and can be purchased at thealdrich.org

The event will begin with Aldrich Undercover Covers, a pre-sale online launch party held over Zoom on Thursday evening at 7 pm, featuring contemporary artists crossing over from art to music and performing covers of popular songs! Artist musicians include Roz Chast, Michelle Segre and Steve DiBenedetto, and B. Wurtz. The online art sale will follow the music performances, opening promptly at 7:50 pm for VIP ticketholders and 8 pm for Patron and General ticketholders. VIP and Patron ticketholders will have the ability to preview the works in the sale on Wednesday, May 5, a first in Aldrich Undercover history. All ticket levels will have full access to the virtual launch party, the Aldrich Undercover Covers performances, and the art sale.

In addition to the Aldrich Undercover “secret” art sale, artists Bryan Nash Gill (1961-2013), Harmony Hammond, Andy Mister, and Hayal Pozanti have each contributed significant works to be offered for sale. These works are not part of the $350 flat rate sale.

All proceeds benefit The Aldrich’s dynamic exhibitions and education programs. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, the Museum depends on support from fundraisers such as Aldrich Undercover. The Aldrich has been profoundly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, having to postpone exhibitions and cancel on-site public programs. To support the Museum in uncertain times, the alumni artists responded enthusiastically to our ask to create works for Aldrich Undercover.
