Plant with a Purpose at Southbury Training School

Volunteers are needed to help plant 400+ native shrubs and perennials to restore the shoreline along Lake Stibbs at the Southbury Training School.

Bring your sunscreen, hat, closed toed shoes, bagged lunch, and plenty of water and join Pomperaug River Watershed Coalition (PRWC) and the Dr. Marc Taylor interns in a restorative planting along Lake Stibbs. You will be planting native species along the shoreline to create a buffer zone that will help to absorb pollution and runoff before water flows into the lake, in turn, protecting the rivers downstream. PRWC will provide all plant materials and tools needed for the planting. You are welcome to BYO shovel and work gloves if you'd like!

This project is funded in part by the Southbury Community Trust Fund and is facilitated in conjunction with the Southbury Training School.
