Lamont Explains Phases of Reopening Connecticut

Chaz and AJ, the co-hosts of Connecticut’s most popular morning show “Chaz and AJ in the Morning,” heard on 99.1 WPLR FM and 95.9 WFOX FM, interviewed Governor Ned Lamont regarding his announcement to cancel schools for the rest of the academic year, and his multi-phase plan to open the State.

Looking ahead, Chaz asked the Governor, “Do you think [schools] will be back in the fall?” Governor Lamont responded, “I do, I know we are going to be back in the fall.” Additionally, Gov. Lamont said he thinks an early start to the fall academic school year is possible.

Many businesses have been closed due to the pandemic awaiting instruction on how and when to re-open. May 20th is the date that Gov. Lamont previously announced for Phase 1 of the re-opening. Today, he stated, “[they] are going to roll out the guidelines by industry on Friday” for Phase 1. The dates for phases 2-4 of Connecticut’s reopening process have not been announced yet. However, these phases are based on declining infections and declining hospitalizations.

Chaz asked the Governor to categorize different businesses into potential opening phases (1-4). Gov. Lamont designated the following:

4 - Indoor Concerts

3 - Outdoor Concerts

3 - Casinos

2 or 3 - Yard Goats, and other outdoor sporting events, etc.

3 - Amusement Parks

1 - Beaches

2 - Gyms

2 - DMV

2 - Driving Schools

3 or 4 - Dental offices

3 or 4 - Tattoo Parlors

3 - Outdoor Weddings and Parties

4 - Indoor Weddings and Parties

Re-starting elective surgeries and re-opening dental offices depend on individualized safety measures.
