Town of Southbury Announces Summer Employment Opportunities

The Town of Southbury is still accepting applications for summer positions at Southbury Parks and Recreation Department (deadline for submitting is April 16) and Southbury Public Works Department (open until filled).


Temporary Summer Position at the Southbury Public Works Department. 40 hours per week, no benefits. Cuts grass, maintains planting beds, trims shrubbery and ornamentals, and performs other outside maintenance duties as assigned. Open until filled.

Pre-School Summer Camp Director.The Pre-School summer camp is a half day program beginning on June 25. The camp runs from 9am – 12pm from Monday through Thursday for six consecutive weeks and serves all children aged 3-5 years old. The Pre-school Camp Director is responsible for providing a safe environment for all campers and staff, as well as planning, directing and supervising the program. Summer Camp Manager. The Summer Camp Manager shall provide a safe environment for all campers and staff. The manager is responsible to plan, direct and supervise all summer day camp programs and staff for the Southbury Parks & Recreation Department. The Camp Manager shall oversee pre-camp staff training and on-going training meetings. Salary range is $13.00-$15.00 per hour DOE for approximately 35 hours for each of the six weeks of camp (June 25 – August 3) and approximately 15 hours per week prior to the start of camp and immediately following the end of camp. Click to view the Camp Manager Job Description.

Teenscape Camp Director. The Teenscape Director shall provide a safe environment for all campers and staff. The Teenscape Director is responsible to direct, supervise and assist in the planning of Teenscape day camp trips and staff. The director shall oversee pre-camp staff training and on-going training meetings, as well as be the lead supervisor on the Teenscape day-trips. Salary is $10.50 per hour for approximately 35 hours for each of the six weeks of camp (June 25 – August 3) and approximately 15 hours per week prior to the start of camp and immediately following the end of camp. Click to view the Teenscape Camp Director Job Description.

Teenscape Summer Camp Counselor. The Teenscape counselor will serve as an adult responsible for youth in a traveling day camp. Teenscape Counselor will be responsible for a group of teens that travel to a different activity location in the surrounding areas daily. Lifeguard. Lifeguards will supervise and ensure the safety of participants within the pool, pool deck, and surrounding areas at all times when on duty. Work Week includes a rotating schedule (May – September) with up to 30-40 hours per week when aquatic programming operates full time.
