Ion Bank Foundation Honors NVCC Foundation with 2018 Community Award

Ion Bank awarded the Naugatuck Valley Community College Foundation with a 2018 Community Award. NVCC was among 167 local non-profit organizations who received grants totaling $68,700 at its Ninth Annual Community Awards Program. The program, which took place from Feb 1 through March 31, encouraged Ion Bank customers to vote for a local charity of their choice to receive a grant from the Foundation. Over 2,680 customers voted this year.  The grant that NVCC received will be used to support NVCC students.

“It is an honorable recognition for the NVCC Foundation to receive this community award.  This award reinforces the importance of the NVCC Foundation’s mission that thousands of students are depending on to keep the doors of opportunity open for them,” said NVCC Associate Dean of Development Angela Chapman.

“In recognizing our Foundation, customers at ION Bank concur with all of us familiar with the engagement, care and generosity the NVCC Foundation brings to the College,” said NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D.

With a 49-year history of supporting the college’s strategic initiatives through fundraising and community outreach, the NVCC Foundation supports the needs of the college through facilitating student scholarships, capital improvements, college programs, and student emergencies.
