Pomperaug Woods senior living community announces the recipients of the 11th Annual Connecticut Senior Juried Art Show awards. First, second, and third place are presented in four categories: Painting, Drawing, Sculpture and Photography. Additionally, a “Best in Show” award is given to the artist who best demonstrates “the feeling of beauty and life in his/her artwork.”
Ralph R. Schwartz, from Monroe, is this year’s winner of the Tommie Davis Award, or “Best in Show,” for “Red’s Eats.”
Lisa Huebenthal, community life services director at Pomperaug Woods, said the community is proud of the art show’s continued growth. He said that they received 243 entries from 133 seniors from 51 Connecticut towns this year.
The art show, where the winning pieces will be on display, will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22 and Sept 23 at Pomperaug Woods, located at 80 Heritage Road in Southbury. The event is free and open to the public.

Best Execution: Lorraine Ryan, New Milford – Heirlooms

The award-winning pieces will be displayed at Mattatuck Museum, 144 West Main Street in Waterbury, from October 7 to November 11.
