Naugatuck Valley Community College launches a new opportunity for students through the Praxair Skills Pipeline™ Workforce Development Program

Danbury Community Event on May 8

Praxair, Inc., a subsidiary of Linde, with corporate offices in Danbury, has expanded its Skills Pipeline Workforce Development to western Connecticut. Through a new collaboration with Naugatuck Valley Community College, this program will focus on preparing workers for careers in advanced manufacturing.  Students accepted in the program will receive full scholarships covering tuition, books and classroom materials.

Classes will begin on August 27.  The program lasts for 10 months and meets four evenings a week at Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury, CT. Graduates who successfully complete the program will earn 34-credit-hours transferrable towards a bachelor’s degree and receive a certificate in Advanced Machine Technology, in addition to other industry-relevant certifications. In addition to the scholarships, Praxair’s Skills Pipeline program also includes professional development, instructorships, and support for continuing education.

Funded with a donation of more than $200,000, this community engagement program is an example of Praxair’s continued commitment to developing a robust skilled trades pipeline.

The Danbury community is invited to attend Wednesday’s community event to learn more about advanced manufacturing and the scholarship opportunity. The family-friendly event is open to the public. Complimentary food and giveaways are provided.

Crowne Plaza is located at 18 Old Ridgebury Road in Danbury.
