Maletta Pfeiffer & Associates Torrington Physical Therapy Celebrating 40 Year Anniversary

During 2019, the physical therapy providers Maletta Pfeiffer & Associates Torrington Physical Therapy is marking the practice’s notable accomplishment of 40 years of success.

The 40th year anniversary is highlighted by the continued expansion of the practice’s offerings at two sites. “The steady growth of the practice,” stated physical therapist and managing partner Daniel Albanese, PT, “allowed the practice to merge with the former Physical Therapy Center at 245 Alvord Park Road in Torrington in 2013 where Richard Boulli, PT, was a practicing physical therapist and has been a partner with our group for the past six years.

“Today the two offices at 30 Peck Road and 245 Alvord Park Road comfortably accommodate our vast offerings for wellness, fitness and physical therapy care. Our Peck Road site offers 2,800 square feet of physical therapy space, while the Alvord Park Road facility offers 4,700 square feet of comfortable space,” explained Albanese.

Maletta Pfeiffer & Associates LLC provides therapeutic procedures for neck and back pain; chronic and migraine headaches; neurological disorders including MS, stroke, balance, and gait; vertigo; sports and work-related injuries, carpal tunnel, arthritic pain, orthopedic problems and much more. “All our treatment plans,” explained Boulli, “are individualized and can include such treatments as ultrasound, electric stimulation, heat/ice, traction, and hands-on techniques that include massage, mobilizations, stretching, myofascial release, personalized nutrition, and exercise.”

Founded in 1978, the private physical therapy practice was created by physical therapist Maletta Pfeiffer. Ms. Pfeiffer began the practice with $3,000 in a humble one-room rental within the offices of a Torrington doctor for the first five years of her business. Originally from Sweden, she had spent time in New York and finally relocated to the Litchfield County area. She soon recognized a need for an outpatient physical therapy office. Working 60 hours a week, taking care of patients, while her husband oversaw the company’s books, Ms. Pfeiffer applied her grit and determination to open Maletta Pfeiffer & Associates, Torrington’s first physical therapy center.

“Maletta Pfeiffer’s beginnings were humble,” recalled Albanese, “in that she knew what it took to create and maintain a successful business. She didn’t have a lot of money, or space, but she had the resolve and fortitude to create a long-range caring service for the community. While the beginning office accommodations were stark, Ms. Pfeiffer worked hard for every client, and patient. Through a lot of blood, sweat, and tears, she created something resilient, a hallmark to the area she served. She was dedicated to the continual well being of everyone who entered her practice. To this day, we continue her legacy by exemplifying a caring, devoted practice, making a difference in people’s lives.”

Today the well-trained and educated staff of 16 physical therapists collectively offers an award-winning level of services. Combined, the professional staff provides countless years of professional experience, offering one of the most advanced and experienced health provider groups in the Torrington region. Boulli commented, “The practice also now has several therapists trained in the Graston Technique® and in dry needling. Plus a certified therapist in the McKenzie Method®, which is a distinctive treatment method for neck and back pain.”

The year 2019 also marks the 12th year that Daniel Albanese, PT took over the privately owned practice from Maletta Pfeiffer. Since taking over in 2007 he began expanding the practice’s offerings. Prior to the acquisition, he worked directly as a physical therapist with Maletta Pfeiffer. In 2011, Albanese was named by “Connecticut Magazine” as one of “40 Under 40” professionals recognized as a ‘business and community leaders.’

“Our continuous goal,” explained Albanese, “is to consistently provide all our patients with the highest quality of healthcare. Continually expanding our practice’s knowledge through ongoing education, and certification on the latest physical therapy techniques, equipment, and nutritional products, keeps us competitive and well informed in the industry. The ambition of this practice is to provide every patient with effective, highly-attentive individualized care that will help each of them return to their daily functional activities.”
