COVID-19 Southbury Update

As COVID-19 has ramped up throughout the country, tracking the movement of those infected by the virus has proven to be ineffective.

Public health officials were tracking person(s) who tested positive for the virus in the early stages of the pandemic in an attempt to contain and isolate it before community spread could ensue. Unfortunately, this has proven unsuccessful as community spread has already occurred.

With COVID-19 prevalent throughout Connecticut as well as our community, we have to practice good hygiene habits. The only proven measures to help protect yourself include:

  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Adhere to social distancing staying at least 6 feet away from others
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol
  • Clean AND disinfect frequently touched surfaces daily
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
  • Limit movement in the community
  • Limit visitors in your home
