The past year has been extremely challenging in many ways. We have made great strides in adapting to the "new normal". Our success in adapting to the pandemic would not have been possible without town leadership, employees, residents, businesses and visitors following the guidelines and processes developed to mitigate the spread of this virus.
We have reopened the Southbury Town Hall with limited public hours and are working to restore additional town agencies and activities as safely as possible in the coming months. Current COVID-19 testing indicates that we must continue to remain vigilant and responsible to reduce the spread of the virus. Phase 1a of the vaccination plan began in mid-December. As of Monday, January 11, 2021, 141,055 doses have been administered in the State of Connecticut.
Phase 1b is expected to begin on January 18, 2021, for persons 75+. Advance registrations for this phase open on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Please visit the State of Connecticut's website for the details of each phase. Phases (ct.gov).
Both the State of Connecticut and Pomperaug Health District vaccination clinics will require advanced registration. No walk-in appointments will be allowed. The Southbury Public Library will have computers available to the public for vaccine information and registrations.
The opening of Phase 1b in the State of Connecticut will make 800,000 to 1 million people eligible for the vaccine. The Phase 1b process will take time to complete given the current weekly vaccine allocation to the State of Connecticut. The Southbury Emergency Management Team will continue to assist our local health district and State partners with the vaccination plans.
