Summer Reading 2021: Tails & Tales

Saturday, June 19, 2021—Friday, August 13, 2021

In order to participate, register ONLINE ONLY on or after Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 9:30am through READsquared. The program will run until Friday, August 13. We have a variety of reading challenges, virtual events, and fun bonus activities for all ages!

Pre-K Summer Reading Program

Ages 0 through entering Kindergarten!
Participate in 1000 Books Before Kindergarten, and join us for fun virtual events and exciting bonus challenges!

Children entering Kindergarten and younger may participate in our Pre-K Program. Keep track of every title you read and log it in READsquared as a part of 1000 Books Before Kindergarten. One winner will be chosen each week and will receive a brand new book and gift card!

  • Reading Challenge:
  • Log every book you read into READsquared! One winner each week will be chosen to win a brand new book and a gift card based on their number of books read!
  • Bonus challenges:
  • Storywalk: Experience our first ever StoryWalk featuring Cat's Colors by Airlie Anderson! Take a stroll on the grounds of the library while reading this picture book. Come inside the library to pick up a special Cat's Colors take and make craft!
  • Alphabet Adventures: Starting Monday, June 21, tune into our Youth Services Facebook Page each weekday for a different activity for each letter of the alphabet. Do them all or pick and choose! Work at your own pace throughout the summer. Take a picture or tell us about your Alphabet Adventure on Facebook!
  • Book Bingo: You can also participate in our Tails & Tales Summer Book Bingo! Make Bingo by reading books in different fun categories to make rows across, vertically, or diagonally. This Book Bingo Summer Reading challenge is geared towards elementary age children in Grades 1-5 but anyone can participate.

Children's Summer Reading Program

Entering Grades 1-5
Weekly Gift Card Prize Raffle, virtual programs, and fun bonus challenges!

School age children in Grades 1-5 may participate in our Children's Program. Keep track of how much time you read in minutes or hours in READsquared and be entered into our weekly $25 Amazon Gift Card Drawings. Earn extra points towards the weekly drawings by participating in our fun, bonus challenges and joining us for our virtual programs throughout the summer!

  • Keep track of how much time you read in minutes or hours, and log it in READsquared; each hour you read earns you one raffle ticket towards our weekly $25 Amazon Gift Card Drawing. Earn extra points by participating in our fun, bonus challenges and through attending library programs.
  • Bonus Challenges:
  • Book Bingo: You can also participate in our children's Tails & Tales Summer Book Bingo! Make Bingo by reading books in different fun categories to make rows across, vertically, or diagonally. Every bingo completed earns you the equivalent of one hour of reading!

Teen Summer Reading Program

Entering Grades 6-12 (and Class of 2021 Graduates)
Weekly Gift Card Prize Raffle, virtual programs, and fun bonus challenges!

Children and teens entering Grades 6-12 (and class of 2021 Graduates) may participate in our Teen Program. Keep track of how much time you read in minutes or hours in READsquared; each hour you read earns you one raffle ticket towards weekly $25 Gift Card drawings. Each week features a different store or location, so you can save your raffle tickets for a prize you are most interested in. Earn extra points towards the weekly drawings by participating in our fun, bonus challenges and joining us for our virtual programs throughout the summer!

  • Reading Challenge:
  • Keep track of how much time you read in minutes or hours, and log it in READsquared; each hour you read earns you one raffle ticket towards our weekly $25 Gift Card Drawings, featuring a different store each week. Earn extra points by participating in our fun, bonus challenges and through attending library programs.
  • Bonus Challenges:
  • ARK Missions: These Acts of (not so) Random Kindness can earn you extra raffle tickets, where each ARK completed earns one raffle ticket.
  • Book Reviews: When you enter in your time read, there's an option to add your thoughts about a book. Review your book and earn 20 bonus points per review!
  • Photo Scavenger Hunt: We've got a photo based scavenger hunt that can also earn you bonus points, the equivalent of one hour read or one raffle ticket for each item on the list you find.
  • Book Bingo: For our Teen Book Bingo, each bingo you make across, diagonally, or vertically enters you into a raffle for a $50 Amazon Gift Card! You can earn an entry for every bingo you make, and reading the whole card gives you twenty more entries into the raffle.
