Masks Requried in Southbury Municipal Buildings Beginning Monday

In the past three weeks, there has been a spike in COVID-19 cases in Southbury. This recent surge was on the agenda to discuss at last night’s Board of Selectmen meeting, but we were unable to obtain a quorum.

Upon the recommendation of our Emergency Management Director and Pomperaug Health District, masks will be required in municipal buildings to protect the health and safety of our employees and citizens. The mask mandate will take effect on Monday, August 16th.

I am working with our Emergency Management Director and health district to monitor the situation and evaluate the possibility of additional mitigation measures moving forward.

I encourage the public to wear masks in all indoor settings to combat the spread of COVID-19.
