Town of Southbury Announces Two Employment Opportunities: Reference Librarian and Poll Worker

The Town of Southbury is currently accepting applications for the positions of Reference Librarian.

Full-time, 35 hours per week (includes weekend and evening hours). Responsibilities include reference research and assisting patrons with electronic resources including library instruction on various electronic devices. The applicant will work with Tech support and the Town’s IT Director on new technologies, solving problems and installing upgrades. Assist with collection development, program planning and outreach. The Southbury Registrars of Voters is also seeking residents (16 years of age and over) to work at the polls.

The positions include: Checker - checks voter IDs and verifies that they are eligible to vote; Ballot Clerk - distributes ballots to voters; Tabulator Tender - monitors the vote tabulator; Floater - Assists as needed during breaks. Other positions are available. The Town needs workers to clean, monitor the line to vote, maintain supplies and assist with set-up. There will be paid training for all workers. The pay for poll workers is $13.00/hour, and the hours are 5:15 am to 8:30-9:00 pm on the day of the election. Snacks will be provided during the day and dinner will be provided for all workers.
