Southbury Parks and Recreation is currently accepting applications for numerous summer positions! 

  • Assistant Camp Director for Adventure Day Camp: The main support to the Camp Director for Adventure Day Camp, grades 1-5. Acts as the Counselor-in-Training’s (C.I.T.) point of contact and conducts their leadership training weekly. Click to view the details.
  • Assistant Camp Director for Teenscape Camp: The main support to the Camp Director for TeenScape Camp, grades 6-8. The Camp Assistant Director is responsible for checking that all waiver forms for field trips are accounted for, and collects waiver forms from parents if needed. Click to view the details.
  • Head Camp Counselor for Adventure Day Camp: Part of the leadership team for Adventure Day Camp Grades 1-5. The Head Camp Counselor is the onsite supervisor for After Camp, locking the facilities at the end of the day. Click to view the details.
  • STEM Activities Specialist for Adventure Day Camp: Plans and implements age appropriate STEM-based projects, games, and activities for Adventure Day Camp, grades 1-5. The Activities Specialist will be on site most days to run multiple stations from 30 minutes to 1 hour long, during the estimated hours of 9:00am-3:00pm. Click to view the details.
  • Summer Camp Counselor for Adventure Day Camp: Performs entry level work in the leadership of a variety of simple recreation activities for children, grades 1-5. Assists the Head Counselor, working under their close supervision to become familiar with the recreation program and the techniques and standards approved by the department. Click to view the details.
  • Summer Camp Counselor for Teenscape Camp: Performs entry level work leading groups of children in a variety of simple recreation activities at various sites. Serves as an assistant to the Head Counselor, working under their close supervision to become familiar with the recreation program and the techniques and standards approved by the department (minimum age of applicant: 18 years old). Click to view the details.
  • Summer Lifeguard: Supervises and ensures the safety of participants during all aquatic programming at Ballantine Pool. Responsible for activity in the pool and on the pool deck at all times when on duty. Monitoring of the spectator area and changing rooms will also be required. Click to view the details.
  • Pool Cashier: Checks patrons into the pool daily for open swim or for swim lessons. Handles money for drop in pool usage and counts funds at the end of the shift. Click to view the details.
