Wisdom House Re-Opens For Day and Overnight Meetings and Retreats

Adhering to the strict CDC guidelines for social distancing, cleaning of all meeting rooms, required signage, Wisdom House Spiritual Retreat and Conference Center at 229 Litchfield Road in East Litchfield announced that it has re-opened to welcome individuals and groups for meetings and retreats.

“We are currently one of the few spiritual retreat and conference meeting center in the region that is open for meetings and overnight retreats,” explained Wisdom House Executive Director Deborah Kelly. “We are operating at 50% occupancy per Phase 2 of the State of Connecticut’s reopening guidelines.”

Adhering to the health safety precautions dictated by the State of Connecticut and the CDC, Wisdom House Spiritual Retreat and Conference Center is booking meetings by the hour, by the day, plus overnight conferences and retreats for groups and individuals seeking an overnight retreat. “We are able to serve meals however not buffet style. Currently, we are offering a variety of short day programs 60- 90 min, including Tai Chi, fitness, and music. Our pool is also open for our guests.

“Wisdom House hosts meetings, conferences, and retreats for a variety of nonprofit and for-profit organizations and groups that support and foster growth in spirituality, education, the arts, and ecology. We welcome over 500 groups annually, many returning year after year. We can accommodate groups from 10 to 150, including meals and overnight lodging. Our campus spans 70 acres of meadows, woods, and brooks, and our indoor and outdoor sanctuary areas encourage meditation, prayer, and creative team building,” stated Kelly.

An annual spiritual men’s group organizer, Michael McCarthy, recently commented, “Wisdom House Retreat and Conference Center, located in the peaceful and bucolic hamlet of Litchfield, Connecticut, exudes a spirit of hospitality and kindness. It has become our home the past five years for our annual men’s weekend gathering. It is a place to nourish one’s spirit and mind. Moreover, we share in their steadfast mission to work for economic sustainability and social justice. The cost of the weekend is most reasonable, food is nutritious, delicious, and plentiful, accommodations are comfortable and clean, and our meeting room has offered the ideal, intimate setting for our discussions and activities. We feel honored and blessed to share in the great wisdom tradition of the Daughters of Wisdom.”

A ministry of the Daughters of Wisdom, Wisdom House is an interfaith retreat and conference center presenting programs that celebrate the sacred in everyday life, the arts and ecology, and offer day-long and overnight food and lodging hospitality to academic, nonprofit, and business organizations throughout each year. The Daughters of Wisdom originated in 18th Century France and founded the U.S. Province in 1949 with the purchase of the former Spruce Brook Farm in East Litchfield that was originally used as a Convent and Novitiate.
