Southbury Public Library COVID Reopening Update for Second Floor

Southbury Public Library Opening Update

Second Floor

Now Open Monday - Friday: 9:30AM - 4:30PM

The Adult Department and First Floor circulation desk will continue their existing hours of 9:30am - 4:30pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and 9:30 am - 6:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In order to maintain social distancing, we are limiting patron capacity to 35 people in the building at a time. For more reopening updates about the Adult Department and the First Floor of the library, please click here.

When visiting, please plan for short visits no longer than 30 minutes total. Hand sanitizer will be provided at the Main Entrance and at other popular locations including the checkout desks, and we encourage patrons to wash their hands in the restroom. Please stop at the greeter station by the main entrance upon your arrival even if you are a returning visitor.

FACE MASKS & SOCIAL DISTANCING

For everyone's safety and protection, we ask that all patrons 2 and older wear a mask fully covering the nose and mouth at all times. If you don't have one, we can provide you with one.

To help maintain social distancing and assist with building capacity, please visit with one member of your family/household at a time whenever possible. If this is not possible, those with younger children must stay together at all times. All patrons, regardless of age, are held to the same social distancing standards for people outside their households of a minimum of 6 feet; if your child is too young or otherwise unable to manage their own social distancing and safe hygiene practices, we need you to be with them to help them maintain this for their safety and everyone else's.

BORROWING & RETURNING ITEMS

Children's and Teen materials can still be placed on hold for convenient pick up at the first floor circulation desk online via our catalog here or by calling 203-262-0626 ext 3. During the second floor's open hours, you may browse the shelves for items. Please plan ahead for short visits no longer than 30 minutes. As much as we miss everyone, lingering is not encouraged. If you don't feel comfortable entering the building at this time, please call our Reference Desk at 203-262-0626 ext. 130 to arrange an alternative.

All DVD check out times have been changed to two weeks.

All indoor book returns are currently closed. Please return all materials in the outside book return. Upon return, all materials will be quarantined for 72 hours; no fines will be charged that accrued during quarantine periods.

COMPUTERS, SCANNING, & PRINTING

Two youth services public computers are available for children, teens, and adults accompanied by children only; all adults unaccompanied by children must use the computers in the adult department. Computer use is limited to one 30 minute session per person per day from 9:30am-4:00pm. Staff are unable to provide assistance with the public computers due to social distancing guidelines. The printer and copier are primarily self-service and each patron is limited to one 15 minute session per day. Like upstairs public computers, upstairs printing and copying are limited to children, teens, and adults accompanied by children only.
