Case Numbers

  • Today — February 4 — Stamford has 11,971 confirmed cases. Last week — January 28 — Stamford had 11,638 confirmed cases. These numbers suggest Stamford has had 333 new cases in the past week, roughly 47 new cases per day on average. The City of Stamford has compiled a visualization of data up to February 2.
  • Residents can read daily updates on new cases in Stamford by visiting the State of Connecticut’s dedicated website for COVID-19 updates located here: https://portal.ct.gov/Coronavirus/COVID-19-Data-Tracker.

  • Want to sign up for a vaccination? There are multiple ways to get an appointment:

  • Residents can also call Stamford Health’s assistance line at 203.276.7300.
  • The State Department of Public Health Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS): https://dphsubmissions.ct.gov/OnlineVaccine.
  • Residents can also call the State’s Vaccine Appointment Assist Line at 877.918.2224. Please note the State has invested more resources into this assist line and wait times have been reported as low as 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Vaccinations are available at Stamford Hospital and Community Health Centers’ drive-through COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Clinic in the parking lot of Lord & Taylor (110 High Ridge Road). Residents can signup for their appointment at either location using the methods listed above.
  • As of today, the State of Connecticut is in Phase 1b of its vaccination rollout. This phase includes:
  • Healthcare personnel,
  • Long-term care facility residents,
  • Medical first responders,
  • Individuals 75 and older,
  • Residents and staff of select congregate settings.

  • CIC Health. 845 Canal Street. Open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Appointments are recommended, but some walk-ins are accepted. Schedule an appointment online.
  • Community Health Center. Cove Island Park and Scalzi Park. Open every day, 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Testing is first come, first serve.
  • Family Centers. 60 Palmer’s Hill Road. Open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pre-register online or walk in with no appointment.
  • Optimus Healthcare. 805 Atlantic Street. Open Monday through Friday, 8:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.; 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Testing is first come, first serve.
  • DOCS Urgent Care. 2001 West Main Street. Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Open Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schedule an appointment online or call 203.658.8291.
  • Stamford Hospital. Operated by Stamford Health. Open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schedule an appointment by calling 203.276.3300. Must have a doctor’s order faxed.
  • Tully Health Center. Operated by Stamford Health. Open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Schedule an appointment by calling 203.276.3300. Must have a doctor’s order faxed.
  • AFC Urgent Care. 3000 Summer Street. Open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Open Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Testing is first come, first serve.
  • Sema4. Located in Stamford High School’s Hillandale Avenue parking lot every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • CVS Health. 1938 W Main Street, 229 Hope Street and 969 High Ridge Road. Drive-thru testing. Schedule an appointment online.
  • Additional testing availability:
  • Accessible Pharmacy offers in-home testing for blind, low vision, elderly, veteran, and disabled residents. Schedule an appointment online or call 215.799.9900.

Community

  • Community Health Center’s drive-through COVID-19 Mass Vaccination Clinic in Stamford is NOW OPEN — with the Pfizer vaccine being administered — in the parking lot of Lord & Taylor, 110 High Ridge Road in Stamford.
  • Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Vaccinations are by appointment only to eligible individuals scheduled through Connecticut’s 211 system.
  • To schedule an appointment, please call Connecticut’s 211 system at 877.918.2224 or 211.
  • The phone line is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will offer a call-back option if all contact specialists are busy serving other callers. The team will aim to return calls as soon as possible, with the goal of same-day response. Please do not call CHC to book an appointment.
  • When you schedule through 211, you will schedule your second dose appointment at the same time you schedule your first dose.
  • When arriving for a vaccine appointment, please enter through the Lord and Taylor Parking lot on Long Ridge Road.
  • Stamford’s Board of Representatives approved the following resolutions at its regular meeting on February 1, 2021:
  • Resolution No. 4083 with respect to the Authorization, Issuance and Sale of Not Exceeding $50,000,000 City of Stamford General Obligation Refunding Bonds.
  • Resolution No. 4084 Approving the Sale of Property Located at 0 West Park Place (aka 66 West Park Place & Park Square West III), Stamford Connecticut by the City of Stamford Urban Redevelopment Commission to Tullamore LLC.
  • Resolution No. 4085 Creating a South End Historic District Study Committee.
  • Employers in Stamford can now schedule vaccine appointments for themselves and their staff.
  • The State of Connecticut has provided a resource with more information on how to schedule an appointment through the online Vaccine Administration Management System (VAMS).

State

  • Governor Ned Lamont announced his administration will be delivering an additional $40 million to Connecticut’s acute care hospitals to support their ongoing work responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • Governor Ned Lamont announced the State of Connecticut is launching a competitive grant program that will provide reimbursements to nonprofit organizations throughout the state for the costs associated with implementing needed security infrastructure improvements at their facilities.
  • A total of $5 million has been allocated for the program, and each eligible nonprofit is able to receive a maximum of $50,000 per site.
  • Applications are now being accepted, with the first part due to the state by March 12 and the second part due by March 19, 2021. Applications will be ranked and awarded based on the demonstrated need for security improvements.

  • Governor Ned Lamont announced the launch of new services at the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that will enable residents to renew their driver’s licenses and non-driver ID cards online without having to visit an office in-person.
  • Eligible residents will receive an invitation by postal mail or email to complete their transaction online and make an electronic payment via credit or debit card.
  • Upon successful completion of the online renewal, the license or non-driver ID will be received by mail within 20 days.

Services

  • Stamford’s Christmas Tree Pickup is ongoing. Residents are asked to keep their Christmas Trees curbside for City crews to pick up.
  • City crews performing Christmas Tree Pickup also perform snow removal. Christmas Tree Pickup has been delayed due to the Winter Storm on Monday & Tuesday earlier this week.
  • Garbage and Recycling Pickup have been delayed one day due to the Winter Storm on Monday.
  • Monday pickup was performed early Monday-morning, if your pickup was missed please report it to Fix It Stamford by visiting www.stamfordct.gov/FixIt.
  • Tuesday pickup was performed Wednesday.
  • Wednesday pickup was performed Thursday (today).
  • Thursday pickup will be performed on Friday.
  • Friday pickup will be performed on Saturday.

Schools

  • Superintendent Dr. Tamu Lucero released her weekly message to the district on Friday.
  • Stamford Public Schools announced Stamford High School earned the College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science Principles.

  • Stamford Downtown and Stamford Tables present 2021 Winter Restaurant Weeks, begins Monday, February 15 and continues through Sunday, February 28.

  • Board of Assessment appeal hearings for the 2020 Grand List and the 2019 Motor Vehicle Supplemental List will be conducted remotely in March 2021.
  • Applications will be accepted if filed and received by the Assessor’s office by February 19 at 4:30 p.m.

  • Stamford Downtown is accepting proposals for its upcoming outdoor art exhibit, the Piano Project, Art in Public Places in Stamford Downtown.
  • The Piano Project is an interactive exhibit that will bring both art and music to the streets of Stamford Downtown. Artists, through a juried selection process, will paint and decorate upright pianos that will be on display all summer for the public to interact and play.
