Mike’s Organic, CT’s premier farm-to-home delivery service, has announced the launch of a retail location at 600 East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich. The space will serve as the brand’s flagship store and a hub for the community to learn about food, underscoring a core pillar of Mike’s Organic. The company will also broaden its delivery service to deliver within 24 hours across large parts of Fairfield & Westchester Counties as part of the expansion.
The 2,000- square-foot Greenwich market will offer the highest-quality organic groceries spanning local produce, pastured meats and eggs, grass-fed dairy, wild fish, organic pantry selections, baked goods and more. Sourcing directly from 250 small, local farmers and artisans, Mike’s Organic provides a wide-range of selections to suit any diet from vegan to gluten-free. In addition to the finest grocery products, shoppers will find an extensive line of Made by Mike’s prepared foods, from Glazed Ora King Salmon and Pastured Roasted Chickens to Mac & Cheese and Quinoa Primavera. This house-made line is currently available to customers via Mike’s Organic Delivery as well.
More than a market, Mike’s Organic will be an experiential destination that features a rotating lineup of food-forward programming. Guests will have the opportunity to meet local farmers and purveyors as they partake in interactive events and activations both inside the space and outdoors on its patio. A series of cooking classes will offer something for everyone, from a grilling course to a kids bake-off to a low-waste cooking class to learn how to make food from kitchen scraps. Additionally, Mike’s Organic will host a variety of experiences in partnership with local brands, from a dumpling-deep-dive with Norwalk’s Nit Noi Provisions to a make-your-own-pizza pop-up with the owner/tomato farmer of Litchfield County’s Waldingfield Farm.
In 2009, lifelong Greenwich resident and owner Mike Geller launched the business as one of the first farm-to-home delivery services in America. What began as a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) delivery grew into an online farmers market servicing Fairfield + Westchester Counties and in 2019, Mike’s Organic opened a storefront out of its delivery headquarters in Stamford, CT. The brand’s pillars are connection -- to the people who grow, raise and make our food -- and transparency -- as to what’s on it, what’s in it, when it was picked and more. These values come to life through the passionate and knowledgeable staff who offer shoppers world-class customer service. Mike and his core team all have deep roots in Greenwich; Vice Presidents Chris Kimball and Mackenzie Judson and Produce Manager Ford Bucknall all grew up in Greenwich.
“We’re grateful for the opportunity we’ve had the last 12 years to support so many farmers and artisans, and we’re excited to build on that foundation to create a signature experience in Greenwich that changes the way people shop and connect with their food,” said Mike Geller, Founder of Mike’s Organic. “Our mission with the new space is to serve as a gathering place where the community can interact with the people who grow, raise, catch and make our food. When you know where your food comes from, the way you look at it will forever change.”
Mike’s Organic has attracted some high-profile attention, with The New York Times profiling the brand for its efforts to keep farms afloat in the pandemic, and Martha Stewart filming an episode of “Martha Gets Down & Dirty” at the brand’s location in Stamford that aired in July 2021.
The Greenwich flagship location is slated to open in early 2022.
