Miss Susan’s Summer Supper and Cookout

Pequot Library, Southport

Friday, June 9, 6:30 - 9:00 pm

Join in a favorite traditional community event — a tribute to Children’s Librarian, Susan Ei, on Pequot Library’s one-of-a-kind Great Lawn! Hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers will be smoking on the grill while The Merwin Mountain Band plays live music. Take part in lawn games galore, roast s’mores around the campfire, and sneak a peek at the night sky through the library telescope. Come for any part of the evening, or pitch your tent and camp all night. Remember to bring a pillow for the Big Pillow Fight!

Based on the seminal 1980 hit movie set in the late 1970s with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. Running on weekends through July 9th.

2023 CT Open House Day

Enjoy free admission all day at the Museum and the 1750 Ogden House. Join a tour to see how people lived in the 1700s, stroll through the historic Dooryard Garden maintained by the Fairfield Garden Club, and experience a living history demonstration, make your own posy with fresh flowers, create a whirligig toy to take home and explore the pollinator garden at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Light refreshments will be served.

Soak up everything the Glass House campus has to offer plus enjoy a seasonally inspired picnic lunch by Elm, special performances by Company SBB // Stefanie Batten Bland, cocktails on the lawn by Hennessy Paradis, and vibe to DJ sets by Alexandra Richards. In between picnicking, explore and lounge on ‘Design Within Reach’ furniture and view a curated auction of art.

Music at MoCA Jazz at Lincoln Center Emerging Artist: Vanisha Gould Quartet and Greater CT Youth Orchestras

Vanisha Gould - whose music is inspired by artists like Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Joni Mitchell, and Ella Fitzgerald – has successfully curated her own sound as a composer and band leader. She will perform originals and music from the Great American Songbook with her Quartet. Bonus! Cultural Alliance member, the Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras’ Jazz Orchestra, opens for the Quartet. Arrive early to explore MoCA's galleries and to purchase delicious food and drinks!

Join members of the orchestra presenting their 20th anniversary spring concert, featuring their 13th Annual Concerto Competition winners Madison Chueka, Willa Brasch and Avery Cotton. Also on the program will be Dr. Rex Cadwallader's Elegy and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 4.

Join the Carriage Barn Arts Center and Waveny Park Conservancy for Fantastical Footpaths with SOVA Dance and Puppet Theater Sunday June 11 at 2pm. Come early and enjoy a picnic on the hill, then take part in a family craft before heading off on a wondrous woodland walk through the enchanted forest! Join "Firefly" the fairy and friends of Sova Dance & Puppet Theater for an adventure through the paths of Waveny Park. Say hello to the toads and busy bugs, discover characters like hobgoblins and dragons waking from their winter slumber as life begins to bloom, sprout and reach closer to the sun.

Festival Edelio Opening Concert: The Seasons!

Westport native and international concert violinist Igor Pikayzen is bringing one of the world's most beloved masterpieces, Antonio Vivaldi's Four Seasons to life with an ensemble of New York's top chamber players. The evening takes on a Latin flair with the addition of the Estaciones Porteñas (Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) to round out the program.
